Code of Conduct

PARENT/SPECTATOR CODE OF CONDUCT 

• Promote good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support to all players, coaches, and officials at every game, practice, or other youth sporting event. 

• Always support coaches and officials working with your child in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience. 

• Playing time is at the discretion of the coaches based upon a variety of factors. 

• Refrain from posting any negative commentary, defamatory or harassing remarks or images on any social media. Please remember to be respectful when posting anything on social media. 

• Never interfere with the conduct of the game or practice. 

• Refrain from the use of alcohol, tobacco, and other illegal substances. 

• Do not use foul or abusive language/gestures towards any coach, referee, official, player, or spectator. 

• Foul or abusive language/gestures or negative comments of any kind towards coaches, referees, officials, players or spectators will not be tolerated. 

• Remember the games are for the youth – not for the adults. 

• Never threaten a coach, official, player, or spectator. 

• Never strike a coach, official, player, or spectator. 

• Always do your best to make sure youth sports are played in a safe, healthy, and fun environment. 

• Always promote that your child treat other players, coaches, fans, and officials with respect regardless of the race, sex, creed, or ability. 

• 24 Hour Rule: The HFSC has adopted a “24 Hour Rule” that is designed to prevent families and friends from voicing their concerns or displaying anger towards coaches until 24 hours after a game or practice. A violation of this rule is approaching the coach(es) in person, by phone, text or in writing/email within 24 hours of finishing a game to “voice a concern” about something that occurred before, during or after the game or practice. This rule applies to anyone who attends the game or practice with your family.

COACHES' CODE OF CONDUCT

In addition to the Parent/Spectator Code Above, coaches are expected to adhere to the following:

• Act appropriately at all times and provide positive encouragement in my comments for all players on both teams.

• Be supportive after the game, win or lose, and recognize good effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

• Do not use obscene, abusive, or vulgar language in any manner toward anyone, at any time, before, during, or after the game.

• Do not address the referee or referees at any time, for any reason.

• Show respect to the volunteers of the club at all times.

PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT 

• Treat your teammates and opponents with respect regardless of their ability, race, sex or creed. 

• Respect coaches, officials, parents and spectators. 

• Playing time is at the discretion of the coaches based upon a variety of factors. 

• Abide by the rules of the game at all times. 

• Do not use foul or abusive language/gestures towards any player, coach, official or spectator. 

• Always treat the facilities and equipment with respect wherever you may play. 

• Do not leave empty bottles, wrappers, or trash at a practice field or game location. The area should be cleaner than when you arrived. 

• Cheer your teammates on and never lay blame on another teammate either publicly or in private. 

• Never argue or question an official or coach. 

• Never threaten a coach, official, player or spectator. 

• Never strike a coach, official, player or spectator. 

• Always conduct yourself in a courteous and respectful manner. 

• Refrain from posting any negative commentary, defamatory or harassing remarks or images on social media. Be respectful and thoughtful when posting anything on social media. 

Penalty

Failure to adhere to the tenants listed or implied of this code will be addressed by the HFSC League Commissioner or HFSC board through the club's grievance policy.

Homewood Flossmoor Park District Code of Conduct

In addition, the Park District has the following Code of Conduct for activities conducted in their facilities:

COACH,PLAYER AND PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT

To ensure safe and enjoyable programs for all participants, coaches, referees, volunteers, parents, spectators and staff members, the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District has developed the following code of conduct when participating, coaching, volunteering and/or officiating in programs and using facilities:

  1. Show respect to all participants, coaches, referees, volunteers, parents, spectators and staff

  2. Show respect for all equipment, supplies and facilities.

  3. Refrain from using offensive or profane language.

  4. Refrain from aggressive behavior that could cause bodily harm or property damage.

The Park District reserves the right to dismiss a participant, coach, referee, volunteer, parent, spectator, or any other person affiliated with the group, from a program or event if their behavior or language is deemed inappropriate by Park District staff or police.

Homewood-Flossmoor Park District applies a caring and positive approach to discipline, yet reserves the right to dismiss a participant, coach, referee, volunteer, parent, or any other person affiliated with the group, whose behavior endangers the safety of others or causes property damage.
